I'm going through my closet and trying to see it in a different way so that I can recycle the things I have and maybe start wearing those things that did not quite work out the first time around. It is like a thrift shop in there. Nothing goes with its friends. So frustrating.
So...can I wear this spotted shiny top under this vintagey sweater? I know it's not matchy-matchy, but does it go together?
I honestly have no idea.
My sister claims it does (after I emailed the picture to her), but that was on the third hour of a long-distance phone call after two glasses of wine. So she might have been lying. But, in a jolly way.
And husband, dear as he is, has no comment. Kids, lovely though they may be, have no idea. There is no reference point in this house and I don't go to an office every day, so how would I know? I read Lucky magazine for heaven sakes, you would think I could glean some type of matching - knowledge from its glossy pages. But no, I read the magazine and I still have no idea.
I have a new trick where I just wear my wacky clothing combinations and try to see if anyone looks at me in a strange way during the day. But, seeing as I have only visited the gas station where I paid at the pump today (as well as doing other not-seeing-other-people sort of things), this method is not working well.
If you have an opinion, please feel free to post it. Or share your own questionable outfits. We can be a support group for people who can't match clothes.

Put on some dark colored jeans that match the dark in the under shirt and it will look great!
wow...I can so relate to you! Never really have to go anywhere, except work..where I wear scrubs, that it matters what I wear. So sometimes I just throw on different stuff to see if I get ghastly stares or oh wows. No one really seems to notice! I do like your combo though. Looks very Anthropology like. Oh yeah..that is also the state of my closet and the reaction or nonreactions I get from the fam! Sounds like we are left to our own judgement! Scary ha?
WOW! Your hair is dark!
I think it's cute together! The colorful shirt underneath makes the top one not too drab. :)
I'm a clothes-whore and a fashion-maven so let me step in here. :) I love this topic. :)
For starters, I think the combo looks fab. Secondly, if it feels right to you and feels right ON you, then it is right. What spiralsun65 said is right... "you can wear just about anything with anything, and it will look fine. More importantly, it will look like you." Wise words.
Pairing things together uniquely makes an outfit YOU and if it feels right to YOU, then go with it! Personalized pairings are what give people style and their own personal look. Go for it! Have fun!
